Gayeon Kim

Hi, thank you for visiting my website!

My name is Gayeon Kim (pronounced Gah-Yeon Kim), and I am a junior majoring in BFA 3D Animation and Visual Effects at the School of Visual Arts. Born and raised in Korea, I am now studying in New York. I specialize in Look Development and Lighting, creating characters and environment scenes with compelling stories, and applying textures that best convey them. I really enjoy adding details and narrative through texturing and lighting, crafting elements that capture and hold viewers’ attention.

I get inspiration from animations, films, the people and streets around me, sports, paintings, and travel. One of my favorite hobbies is watching baseball games and exploring theme parks around the world. I also love learning about different cultures and languages by connecting with people while traveling. Before majoring in 3D Animation, I studied Fine Arts and Oriental Painting, so I enjoy drawing and painting, especially with oil paints.

Although I have many hobbies and interests, my passion for 3D Animation led me to pursue it in the United States. Some of the animations that have influenced me the most include Coraline, the Spider-Man series, Wreck-It Ralph, and Monsters, Inc. I also enjoy series like Stranger Things, and I'm a big fan of director Park Chan-wook and his film Oldboy. I enjoy discussing films, including behind-the-scenes details and alternative endings. I also like reading novels, listening to music, and capturing moments with my film camera.

I can’t wait to connect with people who love 3D Animation and films! Feel free to reach out for collaborations, film discussions, or even just a coffee chat. I’d also love to hear about your favorite films and animations!
